Course Outline
The course aims to draw our attention to the lesser-known aspects of our shared history and to show the resultant impact of colonisation on the lives of Aboriginal people. We will listen to the Aboriginal voice through extensive use of video and audio material, and hear an occasional visitor/expert or visit a museum or gallery.

Interest in Australian history.

Outline of Course
Theme units will be introduced for bi-monthly duration on aspects of Australian history. They may be on topics, e.g., the gold rush; or biographical, e.g., exploration or scientific research. Sessions will be prepared and presented, sometimes using DVDs, providing opportunities for active discussion.
Entry Criterion
An interest in the local, national and international history of Australia.
Participants to be prepared to take part in discussion of issues, and perhaps to prepare a session.

Outline of Course
A study of post World War 2 Yugoslavia, Albania, Bulgaria and Romania – each session devoted to one country, examining the leadership, living conditions, trade and the reaction to the collapse of the Soviet bloc.
Entry Criterion
Some understanding of the pre World War 1 history of the Balkans. A willingness to do research and lead discussion.

10 am to 11.30 am Wednesdays, 8 to 29 February.

Family History / Genealogy - Term 2

Course Outline
This course will start students on developing their Family Tree. Covers searching for Births, Deaths and Marriages in Australia and overseas, and recording this data in their Tree.
There is a charge of $2 each class.
Entry Criterion
Strict limit of 10 participants!
Basic computer skills. An ability to work on your own at home between classes.
Time
1.30 pm to 3.30 pm, Mondays during Term 2, commencing 16 April.

Outline of Course
A study of Anna Pavlova, Jenny Lind, Sarah Bernhardt, and Dame Ellen Terry, their unique talent and the way in which each broke taboos.

Willingness to do some research and share findings with others.
