BUSHWALKING

Outline of Course
This activity caters for those members who enjoy bushwalking in a group. Most of the walks will be in and around the Castlemaine area. As long as we are not walking in a National Park or on private land, you may bring your dog, but it must be on a lead at all times. Different members are encouraged to be the walk leader. The walks are approximately 5 – 7kms in length. When there is a fifth Wednesday in a month there will be an extra walk. These will be of medium difficulty and longer in length and participants will need to carry their snacks, drinks and their lunch.
Entry Criterion
Ability to walk for up to 3 hrs. over some difficult terrain.
Meeting Time
9.30am each second, fourth & fifth Wednesday in the month.
8.30am in the summer months.

For people interested in gardening. We do have speakers and visit gardens throughout the year. There will be show and tell sessions in which we try to identify different plants. We also swap plants.

HORTICULTURE

Course Description
The course will be designed around participants interests e.g. suggested topic - “The Gardens of Artists”, and will feature garden design and maintenance Discussion will be part of each session and participants will be encouraged to share and contribute.

Outline of Course
An ancient game, originally played with stone balls and bought to France by the Romans. The game, so close to French hearts, is played with metallic balls, on a dirt surface.
Entry Criterion
Ability to bend and if you have a set of boules all the better. Maximum 8 players.
Meeting Time
Three sessions at 2.00pm each 3rd Friday of month. Café will be open after the game.

TAI CHI

Outline of Course
A gentle form of exercise, specifically designed for people of the Third Age and for people with arthritis. The class is conducted by a Physiotherapist who is also an instructor in Tai-Chi . No one is expected to extend themselves beyond what is comfortable to them. For as long as the weather is conducive we meet in the Castlemaine Botanical Gardens. When the cold weather approaches we return to the warmth of the Uniting Church Hall. There is a member's contribution for each session
