Course Outline
Climate change is one of the Great Challenges of the 21st Century. The science and politics seem surrounded in hyperbole and exaggeration – come along to learn more about the science, politics and solutions to this hot issue!

Electromagnetic Pollution Issues  2 sessions

Course Outline
This presentation focuses on sources of electromagnetic pollution, how we can identify them, and what we can do to lessen our exposure to them. We also use a number of different meters to measure fields coming off building wiring and common appliances, as well as their effect on our body.

Entry criteria
Interest in why, from the viewpoint of our health and environment, it is important to minimize exposure. Participants may bring along items for testing (e.g., clock radio, laptop or mobile phone).
This session is limited to 12 people.

Energy Efficient & Sustainable Homes  2 sessions

This will enlighten participants on the whys, the wherefores and the hows, and what each of us to can do. Participants are encouraged to attend the Solar Cooking course as well. Lots of diagrams, information and contacts to take home. BYO notebooks.

Geology of Change  6 sessions

Outline of Course
Current concerns of humanity in relation to our environment can be directly addressed through earth sciences. Records from rocks and fossils provide information on past changes from which certain predictions can be made. We examine the geological record relating to climate change and some likely adaptation requirements.

Entry Criterion
An interest in geology. An honest and open approach to the unfamiliar.

Weekly, 10 am to 11 am, Tuesdays, commencing 7 February.

Outline of Course
“It’s all in your genes”. The four-week course will include a brief history of the Science of Genetics and studies of the mechanism of inheritance, the structure and function of chromosomes, the significance of the DNA molecule, patterns of genetic inheritance and the nature of various human genetic disorders.

Entry Criterion
No previous knowledge required. Members of the group are encouraged to participate in class discussions.
This course is limited to 16 participants.

Renewable Energy Efficiency in Your Home  4 sessions
