The first Wine Appreciation night for 2021 was held at the Mount Alexander Golf Club on the 4th February.

There were 21 members in attendance and a great night was enjoyed by all those present.

To help us all after many months of not being able to meet the night concentrated on providing the essentials characteristics of common varieties of wine.

These varieties consisted of Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Some of the wines tasted received great reviews and some not so well.

As an added aspect of the wines it was revealed at the end of the night that all the wines were obtained from Aldi. Given the retail price of the wines it was agreed that all the wines were great value for money.

The wine of the night was a Taylors Shiraz from the Clare Valley.
